“My coaching career started with Scott Sonnon’s Circular Strength Training system, which enabled me to organically overcome my own health battles using exercise. I know from experience that exercise can and should be used as a tool towards greater health. TACFIT is extremely relevant as a coach, because it takes all the health-first principles of CST and plugs it into a formula that can be used with all ages and fitness levels, with little or no equipment.

“In the past, I used to compete in swim/run biathlons which require a high level of endurance. Training would involve clocking 20-30km of run & 5-8km of swim per week. Couple this with my military career, where training’s objective as a trainee was more catered towards mental tenacity rather than creating the best physical subjects, and one will find that cortisol (stress hormones) levels were pretty high back in those days. After practising CST and Tacfit, the mindset towards fitness takes on a whole new level. I find myself ensuring that the appropriate recovery times are present in every protocol. Also, more focus is put into the transverse planes as it is fundamental in everyday movement. Mobility and flexibility is now something I enjoy doing in order to keep the joints and muscles in tip top condition, safeguarding from any future injuries. All in all, I find myself actually putting in less time working out, more time working smart and find that my physical abilities & quality of life have increased.”

“After several years competing in running, mountain bike and triathlon races I decided to make a change in my life and devote myself to teach others my experience and passion for sport. I decided to acquire the knowledge needed to help other athletes improve their performance. And, eventually, I realized that the most important was not only how to improve their times, but the road taken to reach their goal. After earning my certification as Field Instructor I found out two colleagues of mine wanted to apply for the Team Leader Certification? at that moment, it seemed to me mission impossible! During my life I have practiced a lot of sports and systems. I used to run marathons, excercise with weight/bodyweight, etc., etc,…but it was until I was introduced to Coach Scott Sonnon´s programs that I found what I was looking for. I realized I could “train smart” with effectiveness and efficiency in a safe way and that I was improving a lot in many ways (mobility, agility, strenght…).

I got passionate about TACFIT and decided to get my Field Instructor Certification in 2013 because I wantedn to share it and teach it to everyone. After 2 years I still wanted to keep learning and improving not only physically but specially with coaching and that is why I decided to apply for Team Leader.

It has truly been an enriching experience for me and now I´am very happy I can help others to achieve their goals with this smart system.

“They say success is not to reach the goal, but enjoy the journey. Since very little I realized that my body and my mind had strengths and weaknesses, and had to strengthen weaknesses while taking advantage of the strengths. For this I became interested in how to improve the function of my structure, studying the human body and the different methods and training systems that came into my hands to be able to increase my performance and that of my students. When I discovered TACFIT my mind experienced a breath of fresh air, which not only provided a new vision, concepts and forms of instruction, it fit in a logical system in many theories and techniques that I had been working with. Later when I tried it I was able to feel in my own flesh the effectiveness of training. When I applied to Field Instructor I thought Team Leader was impossible for me, totally out of my reach, and a year later, after much training and dedication could overcome what seemed to be designed for others. The barriers are only in your mind… I sincerely believe that TACFIT and CST bring great value to the functional improvement of the human body in any situation you may encounter. Therefore it is perfectly suitable for both an elite athlete or for a sedentary person. But I used to be a Line Check instructor for Flight Attendants in a big commercial airline for 16 years. It was hard for me to prepare for a tournament with so many layovers every week and then I found Tacfit in 2009. And I started by my own the training and I see that the benefit for BJJ was instant. “I discovered TACFIT after years of more ‘traditional’ strength training methods left me in so much pain that I could no longer train at a high level. Not only did those exercises fail to heal my sports injuries from rugby and motorcycle roadracing, they appeared to be making them worse. TACFIT turned around this depressing cycle of degeneration and allowed me to find new levels of health and performance that had seemed permanently out of reach. Now, in my 50s, in many ways I am stronger and am more fit than ever. If my example can inspire others – whether to pursue the TACFIT Team Leader challenge, improve their sports performance or simply to enhance their quality of life – I am eager to help. “As a strength and conditioning coach for team sports and someone continually exploring and searching for the best approaches to keep myself and my athletes pain free I came across the TACFIT system. Partly for my own fun and exploration I started training using the system about three years ago with the evidenced based, researched approach to health and fitness having an immediate effect on my ability to exercise pain free. Lately I have been implementing the mobility and compensation exercises for rugby athletes with great effect. The depth and robustness of the research behind the system is miles ahead of the rest of the industry – and industry, that in general terms, refuses to apply the required critical analysis to what it does. Training for the team leader certification was one of the hardest things I have done, especially at my weight of 73 kgs I questioned my ability to perform some of the necessary physical tests – but trusting in the system and the programming meant I reached the necessary levels. “I originally started using TACFIT as a complement to my personal study of Krav Maga. The focus on rapid recovery from high stress and being able to efficiently absorb/retranslate force across all 6 degrees of movement made it a perfect match. When a sparring injury compelled me to dig deeper into the parent system of CST I began to understand the importance of restoring joint mobility and improving flexibility which are missing from most fitness programs.

Once I became a Krav Maga instructor I immediately sought certifications in TACFIT/CST so I could offer these intelligent HEALTH & fitness focused systems to my clients. Whether they are crisis responders or simply regular people wanting better quality of life, everyone deserves access to pain free, stronger and more efficient movement. Now I have my own facility Scott Sonnon’s work is the backbone of our fitness and self defense programs.

“I started practicing martial arts when I was 7 years old through which I developed my sense of self-discipline. In spite of it, I was an adolescent with poor physical skills, with spine curvature disorders and lacking self-confidence, but with a tremendous will to become strong. I approached then the aesthetic training – bodybuilding. The results made me feel proud of myself, but I still missed something. That was not really the strength I was looking for.

During my degree in Physical Education I started a research in biomechanics and strength training and on that time I first got in contact with Coach Sonnon’s work, mainly because of his background in martial arts and Clubbell training. His ideas met my interest, but what attracted me most was the idea of “restoring the unrecovered and the unrecoverable”, which I could prove to be effective some times after starting training according to his programs.

After several injuries and even loss of mobility, healed in short time with the TACFIT system, I restarted my journey of self-discovery and assumed another approach to training, where healthy fitness comes first. TACFIT is my renewed energy and motivation to keep developing and challenging myself trough intelligently designed training programs. I am proud to be the first one bringing TACFIT to the public in Brazil and offering this practice in the first TACFIT studio here as of December 2015. We are legion!
